Performance measurement of cleanroom flooring

Particles have a basic tendency to settle on surfaces. This effect relies on varying adhesive forces and is greatly encouraged by the room’s airflow. In this case, the floor and fixed flooring represent the final location upon which contamination can remain.

It is precisely in connection with pre-cleaning or dust fixing of particles adhering to shoe soles that the use of flooring from Dycem is recommended. The adhesive action, and thus the effectiveness of the Dycem flooring, should therefore be checked at regular intervals. Because it is heavy traffic combined with a high degree of contamination and inappropriate cleaning that in fact causes even high quality flooring to undergo a significant reduction in adhesive effect.

Although when new, the use of these flooring prevents 99% of the demonstrable contamination in the cleanroom, the particle trapping performance can fall below 50% after two and more years.

Therefore, if the intention is to prevent the entry of particles into the cleanroom, it is recommended to test the efficiency of the flooring at regular intervals by means of a special measuring apparatus. We will be pleased to conduct such a measurement of efficiency at your site.
