basan introduces innovative garments for controlled production environments: Quantus Control Coat

Kriftel, 19 August 2008 --- Cleanroom specialist basan has added a new product to its Quantus® garments line. The Quantus® Control coat is ideal for use in controlled production environments. The new polyester fabric used for the coat is very breathable, extremely lightweight and tear-resistant, due to the Rip-Stop weave.

Less weight – more stability

A special feature of this especially fine and innovative “Rip-Stop” fabric is its honeycomb structure: At regular intervals, warp or weft threads with a “Rip-Stop” function are incorporated in the fabric. If the material tears, the rip will be stopped by the stronger thread. Originally, this tear-resistant fabric was tested and used for the manufacture of parachutes.

The material is 20 percent lighter than conventional coats made of cotton/polyester fabric (ca. 125g). Tests at the Hohenstein Research Institute have shown that the fabric is extremely resistant to penetration of water vapour, which makes it very comfortable to wear. The synthetic fabric generates very few particles as compared with blended fabrics and is suitable for use in cleanrooms and controlled production environments.

Ideal for use in the food industry

A further advantage is the so-called anti-microbial finish (Aegis Microbe Shield), which significantly reduces the growth of micro-organisms. The garment remains clean and odourless longer – an important factor for activities that cause perspiration or in an odour-intensive environment (e.g. food areas, canteen kitchens, etc.). As a result of the permanent Teflon coating, dirt and water bead up on the surface and even aggressive chemicals can be stopped from penetrating the fabric, due to the anti-splash function.

The soil-release finish keeps spots caused by organic and inorganic substances from adhering quickly and deeply to the material, and the dense fibre surface can therefore be cleaned more easily.
